I must say that I really enjoy the people that I meet out here in the cyber world and the opportunities that presented to me. I wanted to share some of the things I have created and a gift I received. First I completed my Scrappy Jak cards for September. I had these great ideas and then decided to go Cricutless. After making this Art Philosophy cards (where all the pieces were inked), I went on an inking spree . Here are the results:

Next, we got a package of materials from Jen of Crafty Card Gallery. She challenged us to take all the supplies provided and wake a card. Well I did just that and this time with my Cricut. I wish I could show you but it is to debut in October :)
What I can show you is a present I received from Angie who participated in my birthday blog hop. Not only did she take a card and made it so touching on the inside but she made these FANTASTIC earrings that I will love wearing. Thanks to Angie for making me feel special. If you have not been over to her blog, I encourage you to hop over HERE.

I have some more projects to make but am feeling quite tired from a migraine filled week. Tomorrow is a new day and I am sure I will make the most fun projects. Bring on October . Until next time.....

Today is a busy blogger day......

I know, I know. 4 posts in one day. I am a busy gal. To make it easier, here are separate links:

If you have come from Kristen's blog, you are on the right track.  If not and you just happened to come to this blog, you can go back to the beginning HERE and hop along with us.

We're so excited to be doing this hop and we have a fabulous lineup with some very talented ladies.  There will be lots of fun projects, along with some great blog candy, and a great grand prize for this hop.

Here is the complete lineup:

Susan http://susanascorner.blogspot.com/ <-- YOU ARE HERE

There is going to be an overall grand prize sponsored by Lisa from Scrapping with Lisa and she will be the first and last stop in the lineup.  In order to qualify for the grand prize, you must leave a comment on every stop in the hop, including my facebook page. Now that the Mouse-keeping er housekeeping stuff is out of the way let's me show you today's project:

Welcome back to another fun filled hop filled with all things Disney/Pixar. If you came from ... blog name... then you are on the right track. If you just stumbled across my post, please hop on back to .... beginning blog.....

I have such a hard time making cards for the male children of the family. Not sure why so today I decided to make one. Boys seem drawn to Finding Nemo. It happens to be one of my faves too (after Disney Princesses if you recall). So I took a die cut from the Best of Pixar cartridge and made it into a boy card. Here is the card that I came up with:
The sentiment is a $1 stamp from Michael's and the papers used (except for the card base) were all scraps. Of course I had to add a little bling! Before I send you off, I will be offering a tiny bit of blog candy (I am still not back to work yet). Here is the criteria:

1. Be or become a follower (make sure you use the follow for Google and not Blogger)
2. Leave a comment and specify if you want boy or girl blog candy

If you missed Day 1's post, scroll down to comment for double the chances to win (there will be a winner each day). Come back tomorrow for double the chances to win (there will be a winner each day). Thanks for stopping by and your next stop is Scrappin with LisaHave a great day and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Now off you go...

Jen's Digi Stamps Freebie Friday: Birds

Welcome all to another project for Jen's Digi Stamps. It is Freebie Friday and I had a ball with project. As soon as I saw this little birdie, I knew what color he was going to be. I decided to learn a new card type for this project. This is a side step card and I found the tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. To welcome Fall, I made this card:
I used some felt pumpkins, leaves and Fall sentiment from my friend Erin and used blue glass glitter from Stampin' Up. The grass was cut from Plantin Schoolbook at 1 1/4" and 1 1/2". Notice the two pumpkins in the back? They are scared they are going to get picked. I hope you enjoyed my project and that you will go and see what the other team members made as well right HERE. Until next time.....

JME Creations Design Team Project: Color Challenge (Sept. 30th, 2011)

Hello my fellow crafters:

So glad that you could join me for another design team project for JME Creations. The challenge was to use Brown and Blue in the card. Well I knew EXACTLY what I was going to make with one exception; I changes the critter on the front. Here is what I came up with:
The caterpillar is from my favorite Cartridge, Create a Critter. I used my white pain pen and blue marker to draw in the raindrops. The paper and ribbon were in my scraps (I am crazy about using them up). I hope you will hop over and check out the wonderful projects my fellow team members have made HERE. Until next time....

Be-Attitudes Hop, Sept 30th-Oct 1st

Welcome to the Be-Attitudes Faith Blog Hop!  Every month we choose a theme with which to honor Christ and become closer to Him.  We then create a project to reflect that theme and boldly post it on our blogs so that the whole world sees that even our talents belong to Him! This month we have chosen the Beatitudes found on Mathew 5:3:12 and we invite you to hop through our blogs to see the Lord’s Glory manifested through the work of our hands and the stories He has written in our lives.  If you arrived from Diana's blog, you are in the right place.  If you just happened to land here, make sure that you hop on over to www.mypapertreehouse.blogspot.com to begin the journey.  Know that we have been praying for you and hope that the Lord would bring you just a bit closer to Himself…

In Matthew 5:3-12 we find the well known Beatitudes.  This portion of Scripture is very peculiar because every statement begins with “Blessed are those…” and yet the attribute that is mentioned right after is NOT something desirable before the eyes of the world.

Look at the list of attributes along with the blessed reward:
Poor in spirit: Kingdom of Heaven
Mourn: comfort
Meek: inherit the earth
Hunger and thirst for righteousness: will be filled
Merciful: will be shown mercy to
Pure in heart: will see God
Peacemakers: called children of God
Persecuted because of righteousness: kingdom of heaven

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you

If we were to be honest, we would all say that none of us would like to be considered poor in spirit, or be caught in the midst of mourning.  Meekness is considered a sign of weakness and in America Hunger and Thirst for righteousness is replaced by hunger and thirst for worldly acceptance.  It is very difficult to be merciful and pure in heart for our hearts are always seeking to satisfy our own needs; and we are not willing to make peace if that peace requires that we would submit to someone else’s authority.  We do not want to be made fun of, or persecuted, or bad mouthed…  Yet all of these things the LORD calls blessed!

The reason why they are Blessed is because only when we have these attitudes can we truly see ourselves for who we are and God for who He is.  Only when we see the depravity of our being and the sin that enslaves us, can we be set free by the only ONE that is Pure and Holy!  May He grant us the privilege of being called BLESSED by Him because in us are found the Be-Attitudes.

For my project, I chose to do a digital layout with My Memories Suite software. The verse that stood out for me was Matthew 5:9 that say "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." With school starting back up this is something that was laid on my heart. Let me show my page first and then explain:

You may notice the "No Bullying" around the edges of the page. Well, I really wanted to put it all over the page. You see, a bully is the antagonist to a peacemaker.  Our state has passed an anti-bullying law here. The parents can now be fined if their child bullies another. I think that this is a pretty positive thing and I will tell you why. I was a product of a childhood full of bullying. No one would stand up for me and there were plenty of people that witnessed the events. I have always educated my children that it is wrong to bully someone else into doing what you want, seeing things your way, or for profit. It is high time that we, as parents, accept the responsibility back for raising our children properly. One thing I do notice is that children that are bullied at home tend to bully out of the sense of having no control. Well, enough about that, the real point of this is to also encourage children that, if they see someone being bullied, that they should work to be a peacemaker. It is not always be easy but will be well worth it. It is ironic that I finished this page the same day CBS aired a special on bullying and its' devastating effects.

There is no greater gift than that of finding Christ, but we would like to bless a group of you with some Grand Prizes from the following sponsor.

We have a blog banner and button design that have been donated to us by The Shabby Vanity. Shabby Vanity redid my blog and I highly recommend her services. You can check out her blog HERE.

To qualify, like Paper Tree House Studio in Facebook, become a follower of their blog, and leave a comment.  Those that choose to participate by creating a project that follows the theme will have a greater chance of winning, so make sure that you create something or share your own story in your blog to then come back and share with us your creation and thoughts.

Hop on over to Wendy’s blog to continue in this journey…  May you be filled with the “Be-Attitudes” this week.

Love in Christ,

Now that the Mouse-keeping er housekeeping stuff is out of the way, let me introduce myself :)

My name is Susan and I am a total Disney/Pixar maniac! If I could I would visit Walt Disney World yearly and take up residence in Cinderella's castle. I am a total princess and am lucky that I have a prince (aka Hubby) who treats me like one. So for today's project I decided to make a Disney Princess Waterfall card. This was only my 2nd waterfall card but infinitely easier. I (sort of) followed the directions from Splitcoaststampers. You should give it a try. Here is a few pics to show you what it looks like in various stages:
I promise once you make one you will be able to make 100! I hope that you enjoyed my card. Before I send you off, I will be offering a tiny bit of blog candy (I am still not back to work yet). Here is the criteria:

1. Be or become a follower (make sure you use the follow for Google and not Blogger)

Guest Designer: Janet Smith

Hello all. I am so lucky to have such amazingly talented Facebook buddies! Janet was a part of my birthday blog hop and I am so glad that she decided to be a part of my Guest Designer series. You are not going to believe her post! So without delay, here we go.....

"Hello everyone, I am thrilled and honored to be Sue’s Guest Designer today. My first foray into card making was over 35 years ago when my daughter was a baby, I had no money and a stack of construction paper and a copy of a McCall’s Craft Magazine for that winter season. The patterns were called “Scherenschnitte”  a Scandinavian technique. They were very intricate, delicate and beautiful. They also took a very long time to craft. Card making went on the back burner for many years and then along came my computer and graphic program and my interest was renewed for a brief time. A few more years passed and I started receiving hand made cards from my dear sister-in-law and a new interest was born. Enter my cricut. a bit of a learning curve, the internet  and here we are!

My project for today is a “Folded Star Card”. I came across this card by pure accident  while surfing the net. There a few sites that feature this card with details on how to cut and construct it.   The most helpful site I found was http://mariannespapir.blogspot.com/2011/03/tre-bretteprosjekter.html and this video on YOU TUBE http://youtu.be/KB92GQ0FCb0

Here is my finished card. Hope you like it and are both intrigued and inspired to create one of your own! This is what it looks like folded

and here it is opened.

My biggest challenges in creating this card were getting the measurements accurate and embellishing. I am not big on bling and tend to be very conservative ( less is more philosophy) I worry about over doing it. Over all I like how it turned out. I am going to try it in different sizes and play with the design a bit more.

Supplies
“Art Philosophy” cartridge for the sentiment mat and the leaves.
Martha Stewart punch  for the flowers
A fall leaves spay acrylic stamp
My Creative Time stamp sets ” Many Greetings” and ” Mom you rock” for the sentiment.
 Cream colored 12 x 12 card stock
2 coordinating sheets of pattern paper
8.5 x 11 off white cardstock
Scraps of black, gold and burnt orange cardstock.
Memento black ink and gold stickles

I hope you enjoyed my presentation
Thanks again to Sue for inviting me to be her guest designer for today.
Big Blog Hugs Janet"

Thanks Janet for this wonderful card. I definitely need to learn to make one! Please stop by Janet's blog to give her a shout out!

Pencil Lines Design Team Project - Week 11

Woohoo, this new sketch was wonderful to work with! This week it was changed up a bit where we received the sketch and a color palette with it. Now these are not normally colors I would have tried together but they worked!!! Here is a pic of the original sketch:
Those colors really are fun. And here is my take on the sketch:
The butterflies are brads from my stash, the sentiment was cut with Provocraft's Pooh & Friends (my new favorite font), the palm fronds, flowers and circles are all Stampin' Up. The paper is a mish mosh (mostly) from my scrap pile. And here is a closeup. My Mom will love the journaling:
Please pop over to Pencil Lines Blog to see what my fellow creative team members have made. Until next time....

Faith Song for His Glory - Sept 28th

Welcome all to my Guest Designer spot for Faith Song for His Glory. We are to pick a worship song that speaks to us. I prayed about this and the song "Word of God Speak" by Mercy Me. Sometimes we get so busy that we forget to "Be still" and know that He is God. There are so many distractions in this day and age. Between the TV, Internet and Radio sometimes it drowns out God's voice. Sometimes instead of doing all the talking to God we need to sit and LISTEN. His voice comes as a whisper sometimes or a quickening in your spirit. For my layout, I chose to make it simple to remind myself that it I need to be simplify my life and be still. I don't always have to talk and please my case to the Lord. Here are the lyrics that speak so strongly to me:

"I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say"

Here is the layout that came from this inspiration:
Thanks for sitting a spell with me. Until next time.....

Who wants to Scrap?

Hidey ho all. First I want  to warn you that this a pic heavy post and is a continuation of the previous post. I made these pages the same day as the cards. I had 150 pics to scrap so I made a very small dent. Here is what I made:
This is a layout I purchased and added a pic of my photographer and Mom.
This is our grandon Elijah at the pool with Grandpa in PA; also a pre-purchased layout
Two page layout for my mini class reunion with my bestie, Laurie
This is so outside my comfort zone but was a free sketch on a paper pack
This was a sketch from Pagesmaps.com; also quite colorful for me
Well until next time.....

I am making good use of my time.....

Welcome all to another fun filled post at Susana's Scrappin' Corner. I wanted to share with you some cards that were made with the Close to My Heart's Art Philosophy cartridge. If I could afford this I would definitely want to have as you get the Cricut cartridge, chipboard elements and a stamp set. Definitely worth the $100. All elements are from this cartridge. Here are the pics:

Aren't these FABULOUS??? I have one for every occasion :) The best part is that they can be used for men :) I will have more later. Until next time....

Jen's Digi Stamps Thanksgiving Party

Hey ho to all my faithful followers :)

Today is a fun day over at Jen's digi stamps. We are sitting around the table being thankful for the talents and blessings we have been given. For the party today, I decided to alter a $1.99 picture frame from Michaels. Originally I wanted to paint it but just love this paper. So Elmer's Extra Strength spray adhesive and I had a meeting and the spray adhesive won . Don't get this stuff on your hands as it does not want to come off! I colored these stamps and learned something new. You can color with crayon and then highlight with marker. I used Crayola. I was happier than a pig in a mud bath! I used this technique on the pumpkins in the basket. The picture is from a Thanksgiving quite a few years ago as my younger cousin is now a senior in college (Lord I am OLD!). Here is the finished product:
The lettering was cut from Provocraft's Sans Serif cartridge. The boy and the girl are colored with Crayola and Copic markers. Hop on over to Jen's Digi Stamps blog to see what everyone else made. I hope you have enjoyed my frame and am asking for you to leave a comment of what you are thankful for. I might just be able to send you a thank you (hint, hint) :) Until next time.....

Pencil Lines Design Team Project - Week 10

Good morning all!

Today I have the pleasure of sharing my take on Pencil Lines current sketch #10. I received some marching band pics a friend took and I decided to make this the focal point of the sketch. First, here is the actual sketch:
And here is my take on it:
I have to say that I *strongly dislike* these paper flowers and will probably change it. This was my daughter's first year in a new marching band as we had moved. The stems of the flowers are from CTMH I believe. They are white and then you color it to suit your needs. The lettering I had in my stash from a million years ago. The metal flower I bought at the Scrapbook Expo in NJ two years ago. I encourage you to come and play along with us at Pencil Lines. It is so much fun. If you would like to join the design team, please let Connie know. Until next time....

Guest Designer Day: Welcome Lori Johnson Apgar

Hidey ho all :) It is another Guest Designer Day at Susana's Scrappin' Corner. I have to say that I have the most talented cyber friends! Lori graciously agreed to be guest designer today and what a treat she has for you. So may I introduce you to Lori of Scrappin' My Stress Away (isn't that the most awesome name!):

Hi this is Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway!  I am honored to be a guest designer today for Susan at Susana's Scrappin Corner.  I first met Susan during her birthday blog hop!!  I have been in a composition book altering mood lately and decided to make a Witch one!!!

I started out with a blank book that I found at Target.  Right now they are on clearance!!
I took 2 matching Halloween papers and traced the front and back covers on them and cut them out.
I used my ATG gun to adhere the paper to the front and back.
I smoothed out the paper with my hand.
I used my new Martha Stewart punch to create this spiderweb border strip.  I am loving this punch!
After the first punch, you just line up the pieces on the side and punch again.

I cut a strip of orange paper and wrapped the spider webs around the ends and glued them down.
Then I glued down the orange strip to the side of the cover.
I got out my Gypsy and found this witch and saying on Happy Hauntings.  I cut them out in black cardstock.
I always save the negative paper to use as a template.
Here are the cuts.  I run the words through my Xyron to make them sticky.
Then I put the negative piece down where I want my cuts to go.
I put the words in one at a time.
I slowly pull away the paper.
I glued down the witch and put a little purple stickles on the brim of her hat.
A little black and white twine finish the cover.
Thanks for having me over to play today Susan!!!
