This blog hop will offer one lucky blog hopper a TWO PART blog candy. Celeste and Lora have both put together prize packages and will each mail their prize package to the ONE LUCKY WINNER! The rules are pretty simple - visit each participating blog and leave a comment - a winner will be chosen from among all posts left at Notes from the Scrapbooklady blog and then we will verify that the winner has visited and commented on each blog. The winner will be posted at both Notes from the Scrapbooklady and Touched by a Butterfly and will have one week to contact Lora or Celeste with a mailing address for their prize packages.
Some of the participants may also be offering their own individual blog candy - please note their terms and conditions.
Today's project was something that started small and turned into something beautiful. I have wanted to try an altered art project. I was standing in line at the local chain store and found this:
Now if you like frogs then this would be a great journal BUT this fellow did not make me happy. So I bought this for $$1.00 and decided it needed and EXTREME makeover! So out came my handy dandy tools:
Now you DO NOT need a Gypsy to do this project. Here is the list of supplies you need:
* Mini journal book for $1
* Glossy Accents
* Cricut Classic Font and Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut Cartridges
* Black and coordinating yellows (for the sun)
* Plain and coordinating pattern paper (for book cover)
* Basic Grey Fabric Blooms
* Scotch ATG gun
* Provocraft Cricut Expression and Gypsy (nice but not necessary)
Here is the recipe for the cuts:
* Floral cover - cut paper 12"w x 7"h
* Binding strip - cut paper 2.5"w x 7"h
* Sun - Shadow is 3"w x 2.89"h/2nd layer (dark yellow) is 3"w x 2.89"h/Top layer is 2.69"h x 2.89"h
* Words - My is 2.51"h x 1.82"h (welded on Gypsy) and Journal is 5.2"w x 1.79" h (welded on the Gypsy)
Now here is the pictorial play by play:
First I cut my two main pieces in the dimensions listed above. I then set up my paper on my mat to cut the pieces of the sun. I have to admit that I still struggle a bit with the layering of certain cuts sometimes. I have to admit he is a cutie though :) Lastly, I cut the pattern paper in half and wrapped the binding around the journal and held it with a rubber band so it would be easier to glue the next day. And here is the finished result:
I decided that the sun needed a little help. I took the googly eyes from the ladybugs (see yesterday's post) and added them. I also used Glossy accents to add some shine on the black. I used a fine point black pen on the letters and adding a Stampin Up rhinestone as the dot on the J. I am quite happy with the way this turned out.
And now what you have been waiting for... BLOG CANDY! There will be blog candy for each day of the hop. The winner will be picked by my friend Randy; Random.org that is. There are two criteria to win this blog candy:
1. Be a follower of this blog
2. Leave a comment under this post telling us what your favorite part of Spring is
The blog candy will be this journal that I made for the hop and floral sticker embellishments.
How much easier can it be? Winners of all the blog candy will be picked the evening of Monday, April 14th. Now onto your next stop... Tina at Scrapping with Tina. Should you get lost along the way, here is the list of all stops:
Enjoy the hop! Until tomorrow.....
